We celebrate life and creativity. Amerrycan is an award-winning, international stage and media creations company, based in the UK, with American spirit.
Created in 2001 by US-born actor, playwright, award-winning producer and screenwriter Bryan Bounds – and supported by an ever-evolving group of directors and actors – Amerrycan began after Bryan relocated to Yorkshire and realized two things: 1) that British audiences love a good American play, and 2) that Yorkshire performers don’t often get the chance to flex their acting muscles with American roles.

So Amerrycan showcases excellent American works and gives audiences intimate and topical theatre experiences with new adaptations of timeless classics and ground-breaking new works.

Social Theatre is another passion for Amerrycan. We believe that theatre is the perfect medium to educate, entertain and inspire people about real issues that affect millions. And we’re doing that by introducing at-risk groups to the American who became an unlikely saint to millions of recovered alcoholics around the world, through Amerrycan’s 5-Star winning drama that touried the UK & US: My Name is Bill: An Afternoon with an Alcoholic.

The American behind Amerrycan
Bryan Bounds, Founder & producing artistic director
Bryan Bounds (MFA in Acting, DBS), is a working actor, award-winning producer and screenwriter, director and teacher living in North Yorkshire, with 35 years of professional acting experience.
​
He has acted professionally in stage, film, radio and television productions in Texas, New York and the UK (since his relocation in 1999).
​
Bryan has an MFA degree in Acting and has taught acting classes at the University of Texas, as well as public speaking training for NASA across the US. In the UK, he is an acting teacher in high demand and has created the Neuro Acting training system, combining his graduate training with advances in neuroscience to help young actors.
​
As founder of Amerrycan Productions, he has produced several touring theatre productions, and wrote and performed across the US and Europe in a critically acclaimed solo drama that gained five-star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe.
​
He is Executive Producer for Bounds Films, a multi-award winning film production company. Bryan recently won Best Screenplay for 'Dying to Meet You' at the Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival, for his adaptation of his stage play 'My Name is Bill'.
