One of the most beloved plays in American theatre, "Our Town" won the Pulitzer Prize with its themes of love, belonging, loss and the timeless need to appreciate the small, seemingly insignificant but actually wondrous moments of life. Amerrycan, Yorkshire’s American theatre company, will turn this play into an uplifting, immersive and unforgettable event for the audience and cast.

"Mr. Wilder transmutes the simple events of human life into a deeply moving, universal reverie." Brooks Atkinson, New York Times
“Our Town is one of the toughest plays ever written," the playwright Edward Albee reportedly said. "Why is it always produced as hearts and flowers?" Not in this startling, magical production.

If you would like to take part in this production, take a look at the downloads on this page. We are looking for 11 men, 5 women, 2 boys and 1 girl. You can find instructions for joining the cast below.

Want to work behind the scenes?
In many ways, that's where the real creativity lies. Get in touch if you'd like to help with stage managing, set & lighting design, set, props and costumes.
If you are cast in Our Town you will be invited to join the Actor’s Studio in Harrogate, which meets on Saturday afternoons. This would give you a chance to try acting exercises and scene work that would prepare you for the style of the production. So if you’ve always wondered what Method Acting is like, this will be a chance for you to try it in a casual environment!
